GREETINGS!

Message from the President:

On September 7,  Judy Benda held the “hand-off” meeting passing the baton of responsibility from the outgoing SPHOA President (Judy Benda)  & Vice President (Dee Weaver)  to the oncoming board members.  I (Tim Edwards) will be serving President and Barbara Dobbins will serve as Vice President/Secretary.  Mike Jones will continue to serve as Treasurer.   I would like to thank Judy and Dee for serving on the SPHOA Board and for their personal contributions to this neighborhood. THANKS!!

The new board meets on the first Saturday of every month.  Should you have concerns or issues for the Board of Directors to address,  please document and  submit your item(s) in writing to one of the current Board members.

CurrentFinancial Status:

As of August 31st the cash and  reserves were:

            $ 2,900 in Operating Account

            $ 13,900 in CD’s

After 2002 operating expenses are paid it is estimated our total cash and reserves at year-end to be approximately $ 5,000 - $ 6,000.   With the 2003 assessment we will collect approximately $ 23,700.  The SPHOA budget expenditures are approximately $ 20,000 annually.  Using $ 20,000 of the $ 23,700 to pay annual expenses the remaining $ 4,000 would be added to the $ 5,000- $ 6,000 2002 balance forward leaving a balance of approximately $ 9,000- $ 10,000 dollars after 2003 expenses.

Examples of items not included in the budget which must be funded from cash and reserves and/or special assessments are entrance lighting,  landscaping additions (renovations), tree removal, storm debris clean-up, and/or snow removal.

The Dilemma:

With total available funds of $ 5,000 - $ 6,000 until the collection of 2003 assessment in the spring, a single hurricane or excessive snow fall could result in depletion of funds.   The board currently had to remove two trees from the Bridgeport entrance.  A pine tree had died and posed a threat to surrounding property and a Bradford pear tree had exceeded its lifespan and had begun losing large limbs posing harm to property. (continued)  The Dilemma:

Entrance lighting at both Morgans Way and Bridgeport are in dire need of repair/replacement but must be deferred until funding is available.  These are a few of the items that are compromised due to the budgetary constraints.  The board is reviewing a potential rate increase for the 2003 assessment to begin building larger cash and reserves to avoid these funding dilemmas in the future.

SPHOA Website:

Pete Benda has been working with Stonehenge Homeowners Association President, David Smith and webmaster  Steve Boase, to incorporate a URL link from the Stonehenge Homeowners Association website  www.Stonehengeliving.com, to a Salisbury Park website.  Pete is in the final stages of collecting the information for the website. The intent is to have  newsletters, by-laws, covenants and other important information posted for ease of access.  Stay tuned for more in the upcoming months.
