SPECIAL REQUEST:

The SPHOA Board is requesting that homeowners  park vehicles on personal property and not in the street.  Cars parked in the street are creating road hazards and obstacles for other drivers, delivery vehicles, garbage trucks, snow removal equipment and emergency vehicles.  Please assist us in keeping the streets clear.

GREETINGS!

Message from the President:

I trust everyone had a joyous and relaxing holiday season. The winter season has certainly arrived with gusto!  The ice storm brought multiple power outages, broken trees and other damages to our wonderful neighborhood.  When entering Salisbury Park through the Bridgeport Drive entrance the damage is clearly visible.  Salisbury Park lost four Bradford Pears and a couple of shrubs as well as damage to the lighting and the irrigation on Carrbridge Way & Caldbeck Drive.  The Landscape Committee is currently in the process of developing a plan for re-establishing the entrance and obtaining bids for the completion of the plan.  The SPHOA Board will hold a meeting, to discuss a one time “special assessment” to cover the cost of repairs, time and place to be determined.  Look for additional fliers in your mailbox in the upcoming months.

While the storm delivered a strong blow,  it resulted in some positive events.  Your SPHOA Board members were out in full force assessing damages and clearing debris and were pleased to be joined by many of our neighbors willing to assist with the clean up.  Many thanks to all those who contributed their labor (and chain saws) and a special note of thanks to those who contributed extended family members assistance.  The community spirit exhibited is one of the differentiating factors that make living in Salisbury Park a unique experience.  Thanks to all of you!

The  board meets on the first Saturday of every month.  Should you have concerns or issues for the Board of Directors to address,  please  submit your item(s) in writing to one of the current Board members.

Ice Storm Debris Removal Update:

Barbara Dobbins, SPHOA Vice President, contacted the City of Raleigh, Street Department for an update on the debris removal schedule.  The City of Raleigh has indicated that Salisbury Park is scheduled for debris removal during the second phase of clean up.  It is projected that ALL remaining debris will be removed no later than the first week of February.  Please park ALL vehicles on personal property and off the streets to allow unobstructed access.

---

Snow Removal/Ice Melt Contracted Services:

The SPHOA Board has contracted with a local service to provide snow plowing & snow removal for accumulations in excess of six inches.  In addition,  ice melt (a non- sodium substance) will be distributed on steep inclines to assist with reducing snow/ice accumulations and increase traction.  Please park ALL vehicles on personal property and off the streets to allow unobstructed access.

Salisbury Park Annual Homeowners Dues:

It is that time of the year again for the collection of homeowners dues. In accordance with the SPHOA Declaration of Covenants, Article VI, Section 3b., the SPHOA Board has  approved a 10% increase. This is the maximum increase allowed without a vote of membership. The increase is supportive of the boards’ continued goal of strengthening cash reserves for unanticipated future capital requirements and to reduce the need for “Special Assessments” in upcoming years.  The 2003 annual dues are $ 330 per household .

SPHOA Website:

The SPHOA website is now available attributed solely to the unwavering efforts of Pete Benda.  The website may be accessed  from the Stonehenge Homeowners Association website  www.Stonehengeliving.com (see Salisbury Park Home Page).   Pete is in the final stages of collecting the information for the website. The intent is to have  newsletters, by-laws, covenants and other important information posted for ease of access.  If you have not visited our website please be sure to stop by during your next “web surfing” session.

Committee Chairpersons Needed:

The SPHOA board is currently seeking volunteers to serve as chairperson for Architectural Committee and the Social/Informational Committee.  If interested please contact a board member.

Additional Community Notes:

*      PLEASE NOTE & OBSERVE: The speed limit in our neighborhood is 24 miles per hour.  Please respect this speed limit as there are children, parked cars on the street, blind spots and NO STOP SIGNS.  The speed limit has been established for everyone’s safety and protection. Thank you!

*      Salisbury Park continues to be a safe and caring community providing a unique living environment.  Please make all attempts to contact the Hospitality/Sunshine Committee OR one of the SPHOA board members if you are aware of a “new resident” or special needs of one of our neighbors.  Lets all work together and maintain a close and caring community.
