SHA BOARD OF DIRECTORS MINUTES
MARCH 11, 2002
In attendance at the SHOA board meeting on 3/11/2002 at the Sarvers home were Toby and Renee Sarver, Fran Johnson, Diane Lahti, Sharon Miller, Wray Gillette, David Smith. President David Smith facilitated the meeting. Wray Gillette acted as secretary taking the minutes. The following topics were discussed:
· Sharon Miller gave an update on lighting of the Stonehenge signs. Snover is no longer interested. CP&L may assess additional charges if the monthly usage fees are not sufficient. Sharon will try to talk with Vern Engersoll at CP&L and get whatever insight he may have on costs and other possible vendors. Motion was approved to afford Sharon the authority to make the decision to go with (2) Durham signs @ $1428 each plus any other nominal costs that may be charged, unless she finds a better deal. Will need David Smith's signature on the contract.
· Newsletter - Toby will write an article requesting human interest/announcement stories.
· Pig Picking - Todd advised Toby that we could not get the pool prior to its opening on 5/18 because it needs painting. Toby will follow up with Todd to see if we might be able to get just the lower pool (with the slide) prior to opening. If not, we will likely wait until mid to late summer.
· Garage Sale - The chairperson is Evelyn Pizzalato and Fran Johnson will be working with her. Date: 5/4/2002. A sign and maps will be made available at South Trust Bank on Creedmoor.
· Several board members agreed to contact businesses at Stonehenge shopping center and request freebies to award to residents (as a raffle) who submit membership fees prior to April 1.
· Pine Straw - need to order about 6 extra bales to go with the 6 bales we have for sign landscaping.
· Everyone was asked to try to remember to bring a camera next time to take photo of the board for the directory.
· Portable Signs - Renee gave prices on differing quality stakes and signs. We agreed to go with higher quality stakes, corrugated plastic 18" x 24" signs with Stonehenge screen print on top 1/3 and blank area below on which we will input news of upcoming events. We guessed we'd need 20 signs. Renee will continue to do some price checking.
· Extra copies of the newsletter were suggested to be sent to local realtors
· Other business - Diane advised that a resident had several instances on vandalism to his mailbox and we discussed providing funding for a surveillance camera. She will ask this resident if he will follow up with the Sheriff Dept to get details on how or if any film we obtained of vandals might be legally used.
· Next meeting is tentatively set for Tues April 16 due to conflicts on the second Monday of April.
